In doing this, I did detach the ribbon wires from the mech as well as a few earth tags, but reattached them properly as they were. No idea how this could’ve happened as I only changed the belt. But now I’ve put it back together the deck won’t switch on properly, the screen is blank, and the mechanism keeps making little jolts movements every few seconds.
Received a new belt today from eBay and fitted it quite easily after removing the mechanism for the deck.
I got the disc out by turning the deck upside down, which made the eject button work, as the video suggested.
I saw a video on YouTube that suggested it would be the loader/eject belt being worn out. Bought a Sony MDS-JE780 Net MD deck a few days ago and it worked fine when recording a disc then playing it back.
